So for the past two days I have had some free time at night and have decided to re-open a project of mine I started a little while back. It raises a good question…Do you invest into a startup or not.
Being 24, I have a very different look at life than say someone who is 44 with a family. That is the fact that I can afford to risk it all. Best way to know if you are willing to invest not only your time but your money into something is to live off the bare essentials. Strip almost everything you can from your daily life (that daily starbucks trip, movie night at the mall, lunch out at the office, buying clothes every month, watching the 20 TV series you keep in the loop on). Turn your food shopping into a survival trip, forcing yourself to be creative to get the most bang for the buck, learn how to get the best gas mileage out of your car or even walking/biking instead and so on.
Sure this may sound crazy. Especially if you can afford to invest and still have the same lifestyle you are living. But what is important is the fact you could be comfortable with the worst situation. Because if that is the case, then what is there to fear?
Fear is the number one reason why people do not start their own business or do something in life they are passionate about. Fear is the gatekeeper. But what happens when you charge the gates and overcome the gatekeeper?…..lifelong happiness.
Life is too short to give up your only shot at pursuing what makes you passionate.
